Clutter Free vs. Sanitary Clean

Latex gloves, bleach and a scour pad. A few of my favorite things! Sanitary clean is my battle cry in house cleaning. Clutter on the other hand is my challenge. In thinking over this contrast in my life, it occurred to me that this was a pretty good mirror of my spiritual life. Create in me a clean heart, always my heartís cry. (Ps 51) However the extra stuff in my life creates a cluttered lifestyle/mind that can develop into chaos.

We downsized in our last move and I can tell you, when things donít have a specific place, they can become clutter. I donít know what the square footage of your life is, but in my life there are things that need to go. This is true in both the practical realm and the spiritual realm. Even good things or valuable things can clutter our lives and erode our peace. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. Let's stop and take inventory of the activities in our lives.

We are called to be stewards of our children, money, possesions, and time. These are just a few areas entrusted to us by the Lord. If you can imagine someone trying to fit 3500 sq feet of furniture or belongings in a 1500 sq foot home, you can get a picture of what we sometimes do with our activities. We may meet ourselves coming and going, trying to be all things to all people. This is where we have to realize that even valuable and good things can become clutter in our lives. When we get still before the Lord, He can begin to show us what things have become clutter in our lives, in our homes, our minds, our activities. We all know that God is a God of order.(1 Cor 14) So today in both the practical and spiritual areas of our lives, let's pray for balance and not only for a clean heart, but a clutter free heart where the peace of God flows through us to others.

Psalm 51-
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

I Cor 14-
33for God is not a God of (A)confusion but of peace, as in (B)all the churches of the (C)saints.
