God's Power Tool of the Word

Heb 4:12-16(posted below) ignited my spirit this morning. Talk about “power” tools. God’s Word exposes, sifts, analyzes and judges the thoughts and motives of our hearts. Ready, Aim, Fire! God’s Word targets our hearts. The next verse reminds us that every living, breathing person is naked, exposed, defenseless before God. He’s up to speed on our thoughts, our motives. Everything in us, He already knows. The Word’s purpose is to reveal to US, what is in our hearts. One of the things that moved me so much this morning is that it doesn’t stop there. He went on to remind us that Jesus walked many a mile in our shoes. He has lived where we are, gone through what we are going through. Been there, done that, maybe He even has the T-shirt. It doesn’t stop there. Jesus went to the cross, paid for our sin. He bought our freedom. Awesome! It doesn’t stop there. He ascended to heaven and prepared the way for you and I to come to the Father. It doesn’t stop there. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, pleading your case, my case with the Father, always interceding for you, for me. He understands what we are going through, firsthand. Have you ever talked to someone about something you are going through? If they have never been through what you are going through, their response may be flat or even indifferent. But you talk to someone who has been where you have been and they UNDERSTAND and feel what you are going through. Jesus is that someone. He is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. It doesn’t stop there. He invites us to come to the throne of grace. He tells us how to come. Fearlessly! Confidently! Boldly! There we receive mercy, grace and help on time and for EVERY need! Today my loves burns for a God whose mercy triumphs over judgment. My love burns for a God who provides all we need to walk with Him. My love burns for a God that is mindful of you and of me!

12For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [g]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. 13And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do. 14Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him]. 15For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. 16Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
